Students from "Stoyan Zaimov" Secondary School took part in the "Distance Olympiad in History and Culture of St. Petersburg" with regional and international participation. This year the Olympics are being held for the seventh time. Students from 14 to 18 years old could take part, divided into three categories - participants from St. Petersburg, Russia and other countries.
The first round was held from February 7 to 12, in which the participants had to guess the topic of the Olympics, the historical figure and the important events.
The theme of this year's Olympics was "Peter I gave his hand". Out of 111 participants from 16 countries, 66 qualified for the second round, among which were our students Polina Dincheva from 10th grade, Kristian Kalchev and Georgi Mitevski from 11th grade.
From February 21 to March 9, the second round was held, in which students solved problems, with 56 students going on.
The third round was creative. The participants had to present an author's project - a collage dedicated to the theme of the Olympics. The collage was to recreate the reforms of Peter the Great, which changed and became an integral part of Russia's life, to present it in a short text of up to 10 sentences and an appropriate title. The project for the third round could be in electronic version or made of paper.
The students from our school successfully presented themselves in the final stage of the Olympiad, and their collages were evaluated with high marks by the jury. 42 participants qualified for the finals of the Olympics.
Kristian Kalchev is on the 5th place with the project "Dreams come true", presenting the creation of the navy, the construction of ports and shipyards, the opening of the Naval Academy and School of Navigation by Peter the Great.
Georgi Mitevski is 20th with the "Army of Peter the Great - modern, European army", which introduces us to the reforms in the army and their impact on the economic and political development of Russia.
Polina Dincheva's project "A" as an Academy "has the highest rating. It presents the reforms of Peter the Great in education and is made of paper in three dimensions. The main part repeats the prints left by the hand of Peter I. The project was made by the participant, and the articles and images in it present events that symbolize the beginning of a new era in Russia. Polina Dincheva was ranked first with the highest score of the finalists in the category of participants from other countries.
